Texas more dangerous for driving than many think

On Behalf of | Aug 3, 2020 | Uncategorized |

Driving is a dangerous activity. In fact, 2018 saw more that 33,000 fatal accidents with approximately 36,000 deaths. Many more individuals are harmed in wrecks each year, leaving them with extensive damages that can be difficult to live with. While some people think that driving in Texas is relatively safe, the statistics state otherwise.

Dangerous driving in Texas

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, Texas has a high car accident fatality rate. In fact, Texas saw more than 3,600 deaths in 2019 alone. Nearly 16,000 people were seriously injured in car accidents during that same time period. In fact, someone is injured in a car accident every two minutes. These are thousands of families that are affected each year on account of an unsuspected accident.

There are likely a number of reasons contributing to these high accident rates. Speeding, drowsing driving, drunk driving, and texting and driving probably all play a significant role. While public service initiatives and law enforcement have tried to crack down on these behaviors, these statistics just show that they continue to be problems that plague our roadways.
